He's Back (The Man Behind The Mask) - Alice Cooper

You're swimmin' with your girl

Out on lovers' lake

And the wind blows cold

It chills your bones

But you're still on the make

That's a bad mistake

Ahh, But the moon was full

And you had a chance

To be all alone

But you're not alone

The Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun - Julie Brown

Debbie's smiling and waving her gun

Picking off cheerleaders one by one

Oh, Buffy's pompom just blew to bits

Oh no, Mitzi's head just did the splits

God, my best friend's on a shooting spree

Stop it, Debbie, you're embarrassing me

Beaver Lake, Oregon, is home to the Eager Beaver Lodge, one of the best kept secrets in 1980's American vacationing. Far from civilization, it has breathtaking views, rustic accommodations, and more than a few dark secrets. When the lodge plays host to the Nu Mu Beta Fraternity and Zeta Eta Pi Sorority from the University of Oregon, a group of adventurous film students from California, and a gang of bank robbers from Washington, it's a perfect storm to bring long-buried secrets back from the grave.

A mash-up of every slasher-genre trope and convention, this story is balls-to-the-wall 80's horror in RPG form, set in 1989.

After unpacking, Christian and Roxie go for a jog in the woods, before deciding that a dip would be far more fun. The Frat rents a bus for those who don't want to take their own vehicles. On the ride, Danny, Marc, and Matt plan a second night bash. The Frat stops at a Greasy Spoon on their way to the Eager Beaver Lodge and those in the rented bus stop to grab a bite to eat. Julian and Marc talk. Almost inevitably, the frat's bus gets a flat; Danny, Matt, Marc, and Julian wander off for a bit, and Scott catches up. Flat tires are clearly the cool new thing, because Laine and Emily get one too, and are helped out by a... friendly... passing trucker.

Day One: July 16, 1989

Morning

~8:00 am: The Frat Bus arrives. Danny and Scott promptly avail themselves of concierge services.

10:00 am: Christian or Joshua, as he's introduced himself as, and Roxie stop by at the lodge proper for some breakfast and the Wall Street Journal. They are followed up by the arrival of a van load of Fraternity types with both Marc and Julian checking in. Hijinx ensues. Christian and Roxie proceed to the impressive dining hall.

Emily finally shows up with the rest of the girls from Zeta Eta Pi. She bumps into Danny on her way in. Mallory and Warren have an unexpected reunion, and some film students show up too.

Laine sees a familiar face on the news after fiddling with a fussy antenna.

11:00 am: A group of film students check into the lodge. Roxie is looking for someone, and Addison proposes a deal for the information.

Afternoon

Emily joins in as they meet 'Joshua', Roxie and Jonathan there right after the Gang were discussing their futures after they leave for Paris. Laine realizes that Christian is alive and safe. Christian meets the woman behind Stella.

1:30 pm: Roxie goes to find Raul, and runs into Melody.

2:00 pm Roxie returns with a notebook for Hawkins. It is learned that Roxie's ex is a friend of Hawkins and is also sleeping with Hawkins' ex-wife. The Heist Gang and Danny and Emily discuss relationships before they are interrupted by a sudden cold breeze and wet footprints on the patio's wood floor.

4:00 pm: Several of the film kids run into one another at the lodge's bar, Misty discovers that Danny is staying at the Eager Beaver too, and some project-related plans are made.

Evening

6:00 pm: Roxie goes off in search of food. Or maybe Raul again, then decides it'll be fun to surprise him with Hawkins.

Visitors and staff alike stop in for a bite to eat. Over a couple of hours, many things get discussed, including bouncy castles, obscure bands, and the upcoming party.

6:30 pm: Christian calls to complain about the mysterious wet footprints and Christine Lake answers the call! Roxie brings Raul to the boathouse so that they can run into Jonathan and at least one person's temper flares.

8:00 pm: Kimmie checks in with Laine in the main lodge room after arriving fashionably late.

Late Night

About midnight: A few frat bros head into the deep woods to have a little party of their own. Something watches them, out there in the dark. Then a few other people show up, and the good times continue.

Just after midnight: Not having found Laine at the dining hall for dinner, Christian wanders out onto the lawn where he luckily enough finds her, alone with more than a few beers, seated in the gazebo.

1:00 am: Emily wanders down to the lake shore to find Kimberly. She learns that Ethan Drake is also at the lodge. Before the reunion can really happen, they're interrupted by an uninvited guest.

1:30 am: Roxie leaves the lodge and crosses paths with the returning Emily. Drake ventures out of the Boathouse.

2:00 am: Marc and Matt talk after returning from the frat bonding in the woods, only to hear the sound of something heavy thudding against the window. Severed heads and film students follow.

4:12 am: Scott shows back up to the lodge alone to find Hya emotional. The party planners figure out how to amend both these issues.

5:00 am: Victoria goes out for a jog at the crack of dawn, and runs into an old acquaintance.

Day Two: July 17th, 1989

Morning

Afternoon

12:00 pm: Addison, Roxie and then Kirk end up talking about things over lunch.

1:30 pm: Danny, Emily, 'Joshua', and Laine visit the waterfall and are later joined by Bastian. There's a fall, a dashing rescue, dogs(!), beaver stories, and a kiss.

1:00 pm: Jonathan, Roxie and Victoria run into each other in the dining hall, discussions are had, and grilled cheese is shared.

2:30 pm: Emily, having returned to the lodge, is found relaxing by Victoria by the lakeside. Gossip naturally follows!

3:30 pm: Any concert needs some prep, and Scott's working on that when Christine comes by to offer a hand.

4:00 pm: Emily and Laine finally catch up and have a talk.

Evening

7:00 pm: Certified Sex Gods have their show on the beach. There's booze, drugs, a bonfire, a bouncy castle, and two all-out brawls that end in a shower of fire retardant and rain. All in all, it's probably one of their best shows.

8:00 pm: After the beach party was rained out, some of the heist gang and a few sorority sisters retreat to the boathouse to wait out the weather. They discuss the various fights that went on at the party, before a heated argument erupts between Christian and Roxie.

Meanwhile, Danny and Misty retreat to 203 to nurse wounds old and new; Scott, finding his room in use, decides Kimberly's idea for the storm is a more interesting proposition than just crashing in 204.

9:00 pm: Emily returns to the lodge, and ends up venturing into the dining hall in search of something to eat. Meanwhile, Raul stops by Bastian's cabin while on his break to get a little something to help him deal with his complicated lovelife.

9:30 pm: Under the weight of double lives, circumstantial pressure, and the high of their insatiable fascination with each other, Christian and Laine finally get space for disclosures.

10:00 pm:, Some of the staff party after the storm washes them back to the lodge instead of their cabins. There is a proposal!

Late Night

Midnight: Kimberly, Scott, and Sonya sneak down to the site of the accident. Others follow them. Sonya and Kimberly sneak on ahead into the building and find something unexpected.

After Midnight: A group head back to the bar after the events at the Lakehouse. There's a close encounter of the boob kind as wet clothing is taken care of. Scandalous.

2:30 am: After the concert was a wash Hyacinth extracts Vengeance on Troy for being an ass and gets two interesting visits from room service; one from Addison Barrett and the other...a severed head?

4:00 am: Leaving Kim and Kirk in her suite some time after the small group headed up there from the bar, Scott pulls Finn aside for a (rather drunken) talk.

Day Three: July 18th, 1989

Morning

6:00 am: The gang meet up at the boathouse in the early morning after all the excitement and turmoil that had happened the night before. There's a lot for them to discuss and a few plans that need to be put in motion.

During that time, Some of the staff work on putting up barriers and warning signs where the fence is down. Bastian tells them about the incident during the night.

7:30 am: Jonathan and Victoria go for their second jog; Jonathan loses his shoe.

9:00 am: Christine comes across Michael in the bar, recovering from the crazy night before.

9:30 am: While enjoying some breakfast, a hit takes place outside the dining hall, sending everyone into a panic and for the lodge staff to call in the police.

10:00 am: Christian and Roxie just happen to be at the boathouse at the same time after the morning's meeting. They begin to discuss personal things about their families when Finn barges in to tell them that the cops were on their way to the lodge.

10:15 am: Christine and Raul discuss his recent behavior.

10:30 am: The Sheriff shows up to figure out what all this hullabaloo is about.

10:45 am: Dodging the chaos by mere minutes, Derek, Oz, and Danica manage to find their own disaster when they find out that the elopement was leaked to a sleazy tabloid by Derek. Some peace is made before going off to handle the paperwork to keep Max out of jail and arrange for legal representation.

11:00 am: Roxie has been wandering around looking for someone, and ends up running into Raul when he was on the way to move his stuff after the power in his cabin mysteriously went out. Around that time, With the sheriff showing up and Finn making nervous eyes at her, Laine worriedly searches for Christian, finding him at the falls where he'd hidden himself until things with the cops blew over.

Afternoon

12:30 pm: The heist crew regroup at the boathouse once the coast is clear and the sheriff had left. Laine is introduced to the rest of the group and they share what plans that they've devised.

1:00 pm: Emily strikes up a conversation with Addison. Other college students show up and evening plans begin to form.

3:00 pm: At the lodge, Julian is spending some much needed alone time at the indoor pool. Lyle sneaks in to enjoy his lunch and engages the fraternity kid in conversation. After an unfortunate mishap, Lyle and a newly arrived Scott work together to pull Julian out of the water, only to learn that a tarp in the pool may have almost caused Julian to drown.

4:00 pm: Those who were involved in the pool incident go to claim their free drinks. Ethan meets Max which triggers things later.

Evening

6:00 pm: Roxie is relaxing after a rough night and morning on the patio, and Raul drops by looking for Jon, but instead finds Roxie and they have a talk.

6:30 pm: Michael runs into Laine stalling at the Lake on her way back to the Lodge for a change of clothes around dinner time, pre-party. She makes a decision. So does he.

8:45 pm: At the boathouse, as Roxie is preparing to do the job tasked to her, the entire island loses power in a sudden storm. Roxie, Christian and Justin work to get some semblance of lighting going on. Out at the gazebo, the Fraternity and Sorority party it up before they are forced back to the lodge once the weather turns bad. Up at the Maintenance shed Lyle and Ethan have an interesting encounter while getting the emergency generator going.

9:30 pm: With the phone lines down, cutting off their ability to call for room-service, Christian, Roxie and Justin go to the lodge for some dinner. They are greeted by Addison who offers to be their chef for the evening.

10:30 pm: Derek, feeling apologetic and heartsick, visits Misty but is blocked by her bestie. He leaves a note.

11:30 pm: After leaving the party in room 204, Jessica checks on Laine and the two discuss Emily more than anything else.

Late Night

Just After Midnight: With the storm still raging on, Jonathan returns to the boathouse with his pilot friend in tow. The group discuss what they plan to do next. Roxie and Christian almost share a moment. Almost.

12:15 am: Ethan is paid a visit by Colorado, who clues him in to how Lyle feels.

12:30 am: Danny decides to run through the storm naked while tripping. Kim thinks it's a great idea. Emily comes along too, and Finn decides to be responsible to make sure no one gets hurt. A sudden scream redirects the group to the lakeside where Banshee is very unhappy.

12:30 am: Some people in the bar and lounge meet The Slugger. Play ball!

1:00 am: Christian and Roxie's moment is interrupted by utter chaos. Both the group of streakers and some others from the lodge race to the boathouse looking for safe haven from the horrors they've experienced.

1:30 am: After escaping the chaos of the main room of the boat house for Jon's room, Raul, Roxie and Jon have a frank discussion.

4:30 am: Checking on the guests at the lodge, Christine reaches Room 204 and is surprised to find Scott there -- alone, having managed to sleep through the last few hours' events. They might have a little more in common than banter.

Evening

6:00 pm: Max gets film footage of Lyle and the Scooby Gang helping The Banshee find peace and get a helpful, if not dire heads up from her.

6:30 pm: Christine and Bastian confront Raul and the heist gang at the boathouse. Their conversation is interrupted by the sound of a music box, before they notice a young girl in a ballerina outfit in their midst. Hijinx ensues.

7:00 pm: Emily has a request for Addison. Tabitha, Danny, Emily and Kim use a ouija board to try to make contact with ghosts. They don't get a friendly one.

7:30 pm: The people that fled the Boathouse and Ballerina come together with those who stayed behind. They conclude with a general consensus that changes some sleeping arrangements.

8:00 pm: Shaken by her encounter with Nails, Mallory goes to talk to Warren. They get their smooch on. Emily asks Christine more about the Freak.

In the meantime, Raul escapes the Ballerina but flees into the woods. The only way back to safety is passing by Lakeview... Mahoney doesn't like him walking on the lawn.

8:30 pm: After relocating to Laine's room after their run-in with the Ballerina at the boathouse, Christian and Laine get into a discussion about many things, including how he's handling knowing that ghosts exist after having been nearly killed by two of them in one day. Then things happen because it's Christian and Laine.

Late Night

1:00 am: So much pudding... Discussions about joining the frat post-survival take place as they discuss how to fix the radio and patch the bridge to cross it. (So much pudding.)

2:00 am: Ethan, Lyle, & Max's threesome goes terribly wrong when Mahoney snags Max out the window in a hail of glass. At Christine's request, Bastian takes Addison, Cassandra, and Colorado outside to check for any sign of Max and her attacker; they don't find either, but they do find Roxie.

2:30 am: Christine discusses some ideas for the morning with Emily.

Day Five: July 20th, 1989

Morning

6:00 am: Having regrouped in the room assigned to their 'client', the heist gang fill each other in on everything that they know about the ghosts and have some plans on the ready to protect themselves.

Emily and Laine's moment of touching base during morning checkups leads to multiple people converging early in the upstairs hall prior to the Lakeview venture. They mull action plans and catch up before it's time to test the balance of risk versus reward in a play of desperation. Troy makes Laine a fateful promise.

7:00 am: Several Lodge employees and guests alike converge on Lakeview for various reasons. Some have come to find patient files in which to use to appease the spirits. Others are here for a radio. Some are here to find trinkets of sorts. Then there are those hoping to find Max. What they do find is definitely more than anyone had bargained for.

While that was going on, like any good group of idiots in a horror situation, the gang splits up. One group encounters records of use. They also encounter The Freak.

9:00 am: Emily and Addison get the files they found back to the lodge. Danny, Adam and Emily talk about what just happened.

10:00 am: Bastian and company bring the badly hurt Max out from the Lakeview and into the care of Laine's triage.

11:00 am: Scott and Emily talk to Christine about what happened. Max shows up to tell her story again.

Afternoon

12:00 pm: Running into each other while making up for not having eaten yet, Finn suggests a talk. Scott's fine.

1:00 pm: Roxie and Raul run into each other in the great room, and a story is shared. Meanwhile, Justin comes running for Stella! Yes, Stella, he's yelling it in the halls where Laine hears. Because Drake is dead in his bunk! Christian immediately comes to investigate with concern and Addison makes quick response to the radio call for transport. Onlookers show in the commotion.

2:00 pm: Mallory and Warren try to come to terms with what happened at Lakeview.

3:00 pm: Emily, Misty, and Danny talk about the situation, and the importance of not going anywhere alone.

7:30pm: After Roxie blows off some steam, Danny, Addison and Roxie go and blow off steam in another way.

8:00 pm Emily, Laine and Christian are joined by Jonathan who sought them out to let them know about Drake's fate, something which they'd already known. But the quartet share any piece of information that they've got their hands on.

Meanwhile, Raul convinces Kimmy to go with him to get Drake's gun from the freezer. They meet Big Boy...things get gross.

And things go south quickly in room 114 when the Bedlam Boys discover Max and Bastian were together.

8:30 pm: Laine rushes to the call for help for Kim. Christian and Emily follow to find Kim, Raul and Theo having survived another ghost attack. Emily gets annoyed at Kim again.

9:00 pm: Kimberly forgets about Raul and learns about D&D with Theo and they go on an adventure.

At this time, Emily foolishly storms off alone after a brief argument with Kim. She finds a snowglobe, and has a run in with an invisible enemy.

Meanwhile, An angry Laine storms to her room to get cleaned up and changed. She and Christian have a deep discussion in the shower, which is interrupted by a desperate Emily who is seeking out safety from her invisible assailant.

10:00 pm: Scott drops by to see Christine... and they learn a ghost's dropped by to see Emily.

Late Night

1:14 am: Discussions of guilt and culpability run hot that leads to the slowest angry pursuit in the Lodge's history. The Bedlam Boys confront the reality that they messed up pretty big. Morale takes a hit all around.

1:45 am: Meanwhile, Addison and Roxie work out some things, and some tentative plans are made.

1:30 am: Emily and Laine linger in awkward silence some time after Emily's emergency. Tallulah and Victoria stop by.

2:30 am: Ethan sneaks out in the middle of the night to try and jump the gap in the bridge in his Camaro.

3:00 am: Laine checks on Michael to see his injury. She tries to frame an idea he doesn't like.

3:15 am: Christian and Roxie go to find the groundskeeper, Bastian, to inform him of Hawkin's plan of looking for possible secret tunnels that Dini or his family may be using in the lodge.

3:45 am: A merry band of stalwarts sacks Dini's office looking for clues and finds a camera hidden in the light.

4:30 am: Danny heard about Emily's encounter with Gash and comes looking for her.

5:00 am: Christian finally returns to Laine's room after being gone for far too many hours. He finds her alone and reprimands her somewhat about that fact, before informing her of his own findings among other things.

Day Six: July 21st, 1989

Morning

6:00 am: Emily and Scott run into Christine outside her office and once more review their situation. After Christine leaves, Emily opens up some to Scott.

7:05 am: Addison breaks the news about Ethan's jump. Lyle and Julian double down on trying to get the radio fixed, get more tools, and find a parting message.

7:30 am: An impromptu staff meeting ensues in Bastian's room in the Lodge.

8:00 am: A motley crew assembles to take on the task of refueling the shed. They're successful, at a price.

8:15 am: Ethan wakes up bound in an underground cavern and realizes the girl who picked him up is Violet Mahoney. He learns some important information before he escapes, with an unexpected victory.

9:30 am: Max, Bastian, and Theo bring Kim's body back to the Lodge, where Adam is waiting for her to return. Raul also shows up to graciously offer to be the one to try out a trip across the lake.

10:30 am: A group led by Addison goes to check Dini's cabin after the bloody shed expedition. They find a trap door to a tunnel, but this isn't the bravest or strongest group, turns out. They return to report their findings and prepare instead of investigating. The bodies are reported as stolen on the radio during this. Afternoon plans are laid.

11:30 am: Emily storms into Christine's office, angry and demanding Jessica's body be returned and dealt with.

Afternoon

12:00 pm: Ethan shows up back at the lodge in bad shape, but with critical information. Bastian answers the alert and checks in on what all the fuss is about.

3:00 pm: Many gather to honor and celebrate Kimberly's memory out on the lawn. Bastian had prepared the funeral pyre while Laine holds a lovely ceremony for her fallen friend.

4:00 pm: A group led by Bastian descend into the trapdoor in Dini's cabin. They find several branching tunnels within. In one of the rooms, they even found an altar of sorts and a mysterious book. Once the book was taken by Tommy, four fish people start to emerge from a section of the lake within the cavern. As the group retreated, they split up with one group heading back to the trapdoor and another towards an unknown passageway.

4:45 pm: The small group that ran for the unexplored tunnel find out where it leads to.

5:00 pm: Adam, Addison, Emily and Thomas find things in the papers taken from the Lakeview and talk about ghosts.

Evening

7:00 pm: Ethan and Bastian go to the staff cabin to retrieve some things, and finally have a real talk. Inside, while working on the radio, Lyle & the Nu Mu Beta boys go through the most hardcore frat initiation in Charter history.

Late Night

12:15 am: Ethan reconvenes with Lyle (who fell asleep working on the radio) to discuss Ethan and Bastian working out their differences. Lyle gives a dishonest truth about his eye. Lyle asks a big favour of Cassandra and Addison while waiting for Ethan to get a sling from the break room. New secrets get kept.

2:30 am: Laine and Christian spend the entire evening laying in bed, yet are unable to get much sleep due to everything that they've witnessed. Near morning, they get to talking, discussing their future.

3:00 am: Mallory and Warren have a conversation about what comes next while splitting the last of the snack cakes.

5:30 am: Staff grab breakfast before the tunnel team heads out.

Day Seven: July 22nd, 1989

Morning

6:00 am: A group of people follow Ethan in the hopes of finding the hidden doorway of the tunnel he had escaped from. They soon come under fire when a mystery gunman begins to shoot at them. That fire becomes something larger when detonators in the tunnel go off, scattering the group in an explosion.

Meanwhile, some who weren't in the loop about when the group was going out take some time to chill in 204 and share information.

7:30 am: Scott walks Roxie back to her room. No one goes alone, after all. Or stays alone.

8:00 am: Christian is dropped off in the Lodge's lobby after nearly being exploded. There, he meets with Finn who tries his hardest to get bits of information out of him regarding their missing party members.

8:30 am: Max helps Bastian come to terms with not hiding in his Lodge room for the rest of eternity.

Afternoon

1:00 pm: Dash fills in Ethan and Lyle on what happened in the explosion. Something isn't right. Bastian's off, Colorado is keeping a vigil for his late girlfriend, Ethan's got a possible concussion, and Lyle is "fine". No one is fooling the dogs.

1:15 pm: Bastian broaches the ugly subject of Candice's funeral arrangements to Colorado, who takes it about as well as one could expect.

2:00 pm: Matthew, with help, surgically removes Lyle's eye armed only with a fist full of various narcotics, kitchen utensils, and his own canny wit. What can go wrong?

3:00 pm: Roxie visits Christian in the infirmary where she sees him at one of the weakest points in his life, being shell-shocked and semi-sedated.

3:15 pm: Scott and Finn try to console Danny, who blurts out something terribly awkward to Misty when she tries to do likewise.

5:00 pm: Candice and Tommy receive their final farewells.

??? pm: Elaine is held captive for ritual by the Mahoneys in a freak twist of blast fate. She sacrifices a piece of her very self to try and keep others safe from more explosive vengeance. Fleeing an unknown location in the deep woods, she ends up racing dusk to get to the Lodge.

Evening

6:30 pm: Finn and Scott go in search of Emily to discuss Christine's idea... and a couple other things.

7:00 pm: Laine's not dead. She's not real together either, and people aren't sure what to do with that, but eventually she forces out the things that need to be heard so plans can be made.

9:00 pm: There's a lot of emotion and commotion that continues in the infirmary through the evening before Laine is dosed harder. She does remember a few more things, though, narcotic confessions and trauma aside.

9:30 am: After breakfast, Danny and Addison discuss tokens of appreciation for all the hard work Addison does.

10:00 am: Dini's Bunker is explored, Danica and Oz are rescued...and an epiphany is had.

11:30 am: After the mission, our weary would-be heroes convene at the lodge. Success and failure are measured, and the newlyweds are taken to the infirmary.

Afternoon

1:00 pm: The generator is refueled--again--and Buzzsaw is defeated.

1:00 pm: While the generator is being refueled, Christine chats with Addison.

7:00 pm: Julian sits alone in a room to think and has an encounter with Gash.

8:00 pm: Laine steps back into her room to find Christian awake and mulling through files. Something from a prior discussion has her asking him an odd question.

9:00 pm: Emily drops in on Christine.

10:00 pm: Derek stops by Misty's room with an apology gift, running into Dante, who had a similar idea. Kat manages to run Dante off with a sharp barb, but weakens and runs right after him.

Late Night

5:00 am: Scott and Laine run into each other early morning in the hallway and have some rare quiet time that leads down sentimental paths they haven't had time to wander together.

Day Eleven: July 26th, 1989

Morning

6:30 am: Scott and Roxie chat about life -- now, before, and after.

7:00 am: Christian and Christine return to the boathouse to pick up a few things for Finn and to do a search for anything of interest. What they got was a game of 7 Minutes in Hell when they find themselves locked in one of the bedrooms there.

7:30 am: A few people head over to Mahoney's Hole to replace the films and torch the altar room. On the way out, they run into Mahoney. Unfortunately, not everyone makes it out alive, and Misty is killed.

Afternoon

12:00 pm: Scott and Finn try to get Danny to eat, and the topic turns to blame.

1:00 pm: Christian comes back from the morning boathouse search in the early afternoon. Before rewarding him for returning safe, Laine confesses her impulsive ideas she had while he was gone and they try to turn it all into real ideas to help put other ghosts at ease.

2:30 pm: Freak and Nails are defeated, Princess is freed... and many lives are lost.

4:00 pm: After losing so many friends, a few friends share a drink, and plans move ever forward.

Evening

5:30 pm: Cassandra and Christine talk about new staff positions while Laine shows up with a plan

6:30 pm: Sonya discusses the ritual to stop Mahoney. Addison wants in, and everyone has an opinion about it.

10:00 pm: Sonya drops by Christine's office to discuss the ritual

Late Night

Midnight: As per the instructions for this counter-ritual, Laine draws some blood from their virgin, Victoria when they are visited by Christian. During the course of their conversation, there is a minor disturbance in the room.

12:30 am: Cassandra, Mallory, and Warren wearily eat sandwiches and resolve to find Derek in hopes that he knows where Misty's body is.

Day Twelve: July 27th, 1989

Morning

6:30 am: Danny and Scott spend a little time one-on-one amidst all the craziness going on.

8:00 am: Multiple people gather in the Great Hall in the AM to touch base with planning and they prepare to use the last two items with the last two ghosts soon. Other avenues and methods work way into the original planning frame with collective offering and brainstorming.

9:30 am: Price and Hawkins talk about mistakes made, their possible futures and the futures they would like to have. Laine comes in and both she and Christian get into an argument due to their mounting frustrations over their situation, forcing them to face their own mortality.

Afternoon

5:00 pm: Big Boy is given his duck with some tense due caution, and Custer is delivered his hat with clever approach and no fuss. The final two victim ghosts are resolved.

Evening

7:30 pm: Addison and Danny discuss relationships (or a lack thereof) and what they're going to do when they get out of here.

9:00 pm: An impromptu gathering in the dining hall is interrupted by Mahoney. Thankfully, everyone escapes with their lives, though it's a close call.

Meanwhile, Laine and Christian have an unexpected visitor waiting in the bedroom later in the evening. Neither of them should be alive by the time the late night comes, but one of them is. The other lies dead.

Late Night

4:00 am: Danny and Sonya meet in the bar so late it might as well be early. They talk about their plans for after they get off the island, among other things.

Day Thirteen: July 28th, 1989

Morning

6:15 am: A morning trio collide in the hallway outside a familiar open door and find blood-soaked Laine still curled against Christian's cold body where she spent the night. It's not a pretty scene. They're both moved to the infirmary, as the woman is largely unwilling to relinquish claim on the body unless it's to a pyre.

10:00am: Final plans, pep-talks, shocking news, it's all happening on the morning of the 'Final Day'.

Afternoon

1:00 pm: Christian and Misty are burnt at the pyre built by Laine's grieved determination and the strategic help of a few choice others. Danny and Scott do most of the talking, though, and there's named paper sentiment roses tossed into the flames in memory of the others lost.

Evening

2/23

Late Night

2/24

Day Fourteen: July 29th, 1989

Morning

Phase one of the distraction efforts at the lakeside is a success, but at a great cost.

Cassandra leads a group into the bunker to burn the bodies and if need be, to distract Mahoney from the counter-ritual. With some heavy losses, they accomplish their mission.

The ritual to counter Mahoney concludes the deadly and dangerous trio of ventures on the fateful New Moon. The world is safe. For now, at least. And it's not without cost.

Afternoon

In the wake of the counter-ritual, once what needs tending to is tended, Scott and Sonya get wasted and sort some things out.

Day Fifteen: July 30, 1989

Morning

Those who remain gather at the beach with their belongings to await rescue. These were the survivors. Those who suffered heavy losses while risking their lives to save the world. When the rescue boat finally arrives, they board it to freedom. The End. Or is it?

Epilogue

What Remains

The official story is that Tony Dini, AKA Andrew Mahoney, along with his wife and daughter, murdered 27 people over a two week period. Between the bridge being out and the fog around the island, rescue was greatly delayed. The copious drugs found at the scene are given as a reason for some of the wild and outlandish stories that came out in the aftermath, all of which were discounted and discredited.

The insurance covered some of the damages, but the whole affair got dragged down in lawsuits. The lodge never reopened, the bridge was never repaired. Eventually, time forgot.

The survivors have one year of memories after they left the island, these all vague snapshots and postcards like everything before it. What that year was like for them is up to each player.

Scott Dixon (Archetype)

The first thing Scott did was throw a party.

It can't be said that his heart was wholly in it the whole time, but he and Sonya did their best. Being the day between Danny's death and birthday, they declared it his Lifeday, and planned to celebrate it every year, in honour of him and the others they lost. Certainly they did it again the next year. From there... well, no memories, but it's nice to think it continued. Maybe they even got less bittersweet with time.

He had to go see Kirk's and Danny's families, and tell them what happened. A version of what happened, in Kirk's case; Danny's family got the notebook Danny left behind, so Scott didn't bother with cover stories. They probably assumed it was mostly a bad trip in a bad situation, anyway. Having lost Danny and Tommy both, it was a difficult visit. Scott didn't mention he'd made a copy of the notebook; that, he kept.

UO's fall term starts late, and by the time it did, Scott couldn't wait to be back. Things had hit him hard in the intervening weeks, and despite having his parents' love and support, it was mostly phone calls with other survivors, particularly Sonya, that kept him more or less sane. Back at school, at least there were plenty of others who knew what they'd all been through, and ways to stay busy. It helped. He kept his position in Nu Mu Beta, determinedly throwing the best parties he could arrange, and as promised to Lyle made sure there weren't any snags with Ethan getting into the frat -- though in truth, that would have gone smoothly enough regardless. Football continued. No new band, though. A year wasn't long enough to face that.

He picked up a minor in Political Science as part of his plan to go pre-law, and he and Sonya got involved in the campus chapter of ACT UP -- though after some discussion, he somewhat reluctantly let people assume he was involved as a straight ally supporting her. Coming out would have to wait a few years; losing football and the scholarship would have been painful but doable, but the potential for scuttling the law plan was high, and theoretically he could do more good in the long run by holding off. And as it turned out, under the right circumstances, he made a pretty decent boyfriend after all.

There was a frat summer trip the next year... but this time, Scott took a suggestion from Julian and they all headed off to Cancun. No islands, thank you, just sun and sea and friends and unreasonable amounts of alcohol.

And given it was a year exactly, the last thing Scott did was throw a party...

Laine Gallagher (Archetype)

It had been arranged for Laine to have a fake ID made for Elizabeth Gray, but with Christian gone and no longer using his cover, she didn't need to use it. She kept it, though, as it reminded her to live as Elaine when she got to Paris, not pieces of someone to please anyone else. Once in France, it took a bit to make contact to sell the painting worth millions, but once they did, Hawkins, Justin, and Elaine were set for life. But even with money, that year was hard. She spent it deliberately alone, as she never really knew how to be alone. Sometimes, she showed up to Justin's place in the middle of the night, unable to stand the nightmares that broke her in bed without arms around her.

Though the nightmares and loneliness were a struggle, that year was devoted to learning herself and healing while she upgraded her French from conversational or operatic use into the realm of medical terminology. She wanted to be a doctor once. She was never confident enough in herself to take that leap before Christian Price.

Christine Lake (Archetype)

If there was a hope that things would calm down after their ordeal on the island, it was soon dissuaded. Emily headed off home and things were no better than when she left. They were worse. Her parents, still dealing with their financial loss but desperate to maintain social standing, had no interest in Emily’s newfound sexual orientation. And Emily herself was still trying to work out what her life was now. Her parents were much more interested in suing the Lakeview, forcing Emily to join the case. Meanwhile, Christine followed up on her promise to inform the families of the deceased in person; while also helping the Sheriff and, eventually, the F.B.I. with their inquiries. And then there were the lawsuits.

Christine and Emily did their best to keep in touch during this time. Checking up on how each other was but they didn’t have the time for anything more. Christine was never blamed for what happened on the island, quite the reverse, her leadership and drive to best Dini and save as many as she could became lauded. This now became an opportunity for the former Director of Guest Services. She hit the talk show circuit, got a book deal, and job opportunities from all kinds of people. It looked like she was going to be a Director of Resorts with the Trump organization, but she only lasted a day. Meeting the boss, she took exception to his form of greeting women, decked him, and got a nice payout to keep quiet – pussy grabbing mattered back in 1989. Using the hefty settlement, Christine started a career in politics, though most of that was for the future.

In the last quarter of the year, Christine and Emily were finally able to get back together and have that proper date. They traveled to the Riviera, spending a couple of weeks getting to know each other without the threat of death – though the sunburn threat was high – and then heading off to Paris to catch up with Elaine. They keep in touch with as many of the people they knew on the island as they can. Emily is interested in the paranormal now, investigating incidents and helping those in genuine need – and exposing a lot of fakery too. Her studies changing to reflect this. She has Christine’s full support and assistance, with both the supernatural and Emily’s continuing struggle with alcoholism, while the latter also heads into politics (and motivational speaking). They wrote a book together about their experiences and the movie rights have a number of bidders. Their lives look good.

Julian McQueen (Archetype)

Julian spent the next couple of weeks in the hospital recovering from smoke inhalation and burns. Afterwards, he almost always kept his left arm covered. He returned to the University in the fall semester, became more active in the frat and started up his Dungeons and Dragons group. He switched his major to Creative Writing, though and started working on a manuscript recording the events of Beaver Lodge, changing names of course. Trying to gather the stories of those who were there. When questioned, all he would say is, "The story needs to be told, even if it's labeled as fiction." As promised, he spent the next summer's trip in Cancun.

Ethan Drake (Archetype)

Ethan is in the hospital for two weeks, having had surgery to remove the dead lung tissue from Freak's attack, and re-breaking and resetting his broken hand. When he gets out, he and Colorado go to Lyle's funeral, where he punches Lyle's dad in the face after the ceremony. He and Rado steal his car and drive to track down Ethan's dad. They plant the car in his garage, framing him for the theft, and Colorado beats the crap out of the man wearing a ski mask. An exceptional essay with his application to OU, telling his story of surviving an abusive home and the tragedy at the Lodge, gets him into the school for Fall semester, where he pledges the frat. He receives a check from Lyle's estate which is more money than he's seen in his lifetime, along with a car. He and Rado get a little house with a big yard for Saiph and Bella near campus. He names the car "Milano", after Alyssa. Everything he does from the Lodge on is dedicated to Lyle.

Emily Reed (Archetype)

It looked like she was going to be a Director of Resorts with the Trump organization, but she only lasted a day. They wrote a book together about their experiences and the movie rights have a number of bidders. Their lives look good.

Dashiel Bauer (Supporting Role)

Dash returned to the UW with an internship story that would live on in the department as a tall tale for years to come. Inspired by what had happened, he joined the US Forest Service, but as a ranger rather than a manager. He was primarily stationed at Olympic and Crater Lake National Parks.

Olivia Robinson (Supporting Role)

Olivia survived the events of the Lodge primarily by sticking close to her sisters and, well, hiding. A lot of hiding, clinging to a wrench she'd found as a weapon (really, a security blanket). She eventually wrote the entire mess off as a truly bizarre acid trip, and went on to earn a PhD in astrophysics from MIT.

Bastian Roen (Archetype)

With nothing to bury and no one but Ethan and Colorado to do any burying, Bastian had no funeral. His two service medals went to long time friends Isabel Bauer and Jack Jones, and Ethan and Colorado split his personal photos with Dash. Mallory received his personal field journal, a collection of notes, pictures, and pressed specimens spanning more than a decade. Bellatrix and Saiph went to live with Colorado and Ethan in the house they bought.

Left unattended, the garden out front of his cabin grows wilder and more out of control by the year.

Kimberly Constance Alistair (Archetype)

The Cheerleader who cheered them on even from the grave. Her family briefly mourned, but she had never been deeply loved by them. Maybe that is why she had loved and lived so fierce and bright. Whatever the reason her family established a scholarship for UO for women going into athletics. It was a small gesture, but the Kimmy Alistair Cheer-Up Scholarship is still supporting UO students today.

Adam Malcom Walker (Supporting Role)

He was rescued with the rest. The last few days shutting down completely and having to be pulled from his room eventually. It took him a solid month of intense psychotherapy before he was talking and functional again. When he recovered he was furious with Kimberly's family at their lack-luster mourning. Flying off to Hawaii within days of the memorial. If you could call it that. Certainly almost none of her actual friends were invited. It was him kicking up a storm and threatening some family secrets that prompted the Alistairs to create the scholarship.

Adam returned the following semester to resume his degree. And in the meantime became a mental health and addiction activist on campus. Needless to say the experience changed him and he became a harder person. Almost a year later he began to write a book about his experience. Maybe it even was published after that - The Haunted Hotel

Mallory Miller (Archetype)

Mallory Miller wound up going with Warren Beausoleil back to Eugene. He continued school and played basketball; it was too late for her to apply for college and she wasn't sure she wanted to anyway. She took up photography, focusing on wilderness shoots.

Danica Durant-Knight (Archetype)

Of course the tabloids had a field day with Danica, even after she wasn't around to care about it any more. When your body is found mangled, with your new husband, in a Princess Leia bikini, and holding a sword, there are going to be questions. (So very many questions.) Some of her father's money kept it more quiet than it might have been otherwise, but she certainly died as she lived: making the general public scratch their heads and squint.

It took less funding to secure a small farm well off the beaten path along a winding highway in California, where the two were buried together beneath a tall outcropping of rock. The rock face was inscribed with their names and the dates of their births. It may simply be that the precise date of their deaths was unknown, but that date is not a part of the inscription at all, leading to suspicions that the pair merely grew tired of the spotlight and faked their deaths to retire into obscurity after their private wedding became tabloid news. Ever since, once in a long while, people claim to see them around the Cal Arts campus, though never one or the other alone. Stories from trespassers at the lodge are far more colorful and strange, in the rare instances they're told at all. They did promise they'd be together forever, and whatever story one believes, that one detail never changes.

Sasha Savage (Supporting Role)

It only took watching him set himself on fire to get her to finally agree to marry Kirk Patterson, rather than running in the opposite direction like any sane person rightly would. She was surprised when word of their seemingly miraculous survival translated into a contract to hunt urban legends on late night television. She was even more surprised to find that she really didn't dislike his mother at all once she actually got to know her.

University of Oregon Chapter of the Nu Mu Beta Fraternity

Based out of the University of Oregon in Eugene, the fraternity for creative and social types, they're always the life of the party. They have their share of athletes like any frat does, but with UO being a renowned liberal arts school, there are plenty of artists, philosophers, historians, activists and next-generation leaders in the mix. Along with their friends from the Zeta Eta Pi sorority, they've rented out the main lodge for two weeks of Summer fun.

This Faction is for players looking for the authentic 80's slasher flick experience for their male character.

University of Oregon Chapter of the Zeta Eta Pi Sorority

Based out of the University of Oregon in Eugene, and as intelligent and creative as they are beautiful, the ladies of Zeta Eta Pi put individuality first. The UO chapter is especially pioneering and trend-setting, based out of the renowned liberal arts school. Together with their friends in the Nu Mu Beta fraternity, they've tented the main lodge for two weeks of fun in the sun.

This Faction is for players looking for the authentic 80's slasher flick experience for their female character.

Cal Arts Film Students

This cutting-edge group of film makers comes from one of the most prestigious art schools in the nation, California Institute of the Arts in Santa Clarita, and they've come to make the perfect student horror film. Finding a lodge full of party-going Greeks, however, they just might shift in a new direction, fusing their creative talents with gonzo journalism and invent the genre of reality TV.

This Faction is for players looking for the intrepid Scooby experience in an 80's slasher flick.

Flying Monkeys Bank Heist Gang

Based out of Seattle, Washington, the Emerald City, a group of daring heist men have pioneered the bank robbery and hostage-taking business to a whole new level. After a string of quick-hit robberies orchestrated by their former-cop leader, the true plan came into shape: establish a reputation for fast, efficient heists before faking a robbery gone wrong. The ensuing hostage crisis allowed them time to break into a very specific safe deposit box with several layers of added security, inside which was an original Renaissance masterpiece, the real prize. They replaced the original with a highly detailed replica and got out with one 'hostage' left for safe passage - the bank manager, an inside man.

Now the gang that dresses like the flying monkeys from Wizard of Oz are laying low, having rented the boathouse for a few weeks while the heat dies down up North. A buyer in Europe is waiting in Paris with their $5 million payday.

This Faction is for players with older PBs and those not interested in playing college kids. Ideal for the antihero experience in an 80's slasher flick.

The Staff of the Eager Beaver

Small town locals from neighboring areas often find work at the Eager Beaver consistent and stable year round, and younger locals flock to it for Summer jobs. A mix of long-time residents and kids making Summer cash, the staff of the lodge are the only ones that know about its sordid history.

This faction is for players who want a direct tie into the plot and a reason to be involved in pretty much anything. Can be young or older. Perfect for players that have a hard time getting pulled in or often feel left out. They get the Local Lore Perk free, and are the only ones who can buy it without Director permission.

Big Boy

BigBoy.jpg

An enormous man-child, easily over six and a half feet and 400 pounds. He wears only a diaper and a bib.

Local Lore: No one remembers his name, they just know of the giant man-child that, word has it, ate until he died. Everyone just calls him Big Boy. The lodge kitchen staff swear that every now and then they come in for the morning breakfast shift and food has been left out everywhere. They attribute it to Big Boy's ghost.

Can vomit forth great quantities of food, blinding and/or choking victims. Brawn is rolled to resist. Failure does 1-3 SP loss in choking damage.

Weaknesses

Manifest Flesh
Ghosts that manifest to harm the living can be harmed in turn. Guns stagger them, for instance, and physical trauma has an impact. It is unkown if this can KILL them, or simply slows them down.

Little Custer

Custer.jpg

A young boy, roughly twelve, dressed as a cowboy. He has an arrow shot through his head.

Local Lore: Said to be the son of a wealthy rancher, the story is he died when another kid put a real arrow through his head while playing cowboys and Indians. Everyone says he was a cruel, nasty piece of work that tortured animals and hurt other kids. Whenever a dead critter is found on the grounds, staff blame the ghost of 'Little Custer'.

The Ballerina

SugarPlum.jpg

A young girl, maybe in her early teens, dressed as a ballerina. Where her face should be there is only a gaping maw filled with row after row of terrible teeth.

Local Lore: Rumored to have been named Isabel, she's the one Mahoney killed in his standoff with the police when the gun he had to the back of her head went off, followed by her face. In life she was said to be mentally disabled and loved two things above all else: ballet and candy. They say her teeth were badly rotted and her smile was... less than adorable. Guests and staff sometimes report hearing a music box playing distantly at strange hours, which staff attributes to her ghost.

Components and Weaknesses

Components

Blink
She can disappear and reappear from one spot to another in the blink of an eye. As long as you are in line of sight, you cannot outrun her. No survival points can be gained for running as long as she has line of sight.
All Teeth
Her face is a gaping maw filled with rows of terrible teeth. Failure to dodge an attack does 1-3 SP loss.
Rot and Decay
Even if her bite doesn't kill, it leaves a wound that festers and slowly spreads. Once biten, an infection starts. Each day the victim must roll Brawn. Failure means it spreads, and Brawn OR Finesse lowers by one level. Success means it doesn't spread. Bonus for tough/endurance qualities, and for first aid. Requires hospitalization to cure.

Weaknesses

Manifest Flesh
Ghosts that manifest to harm the living can be harmed in turn. Guns stagger them, for instance, and physical trauma has an impact. It is unkown if this can KILL them, or simply slows them down.

The Banshee

Banshee.jpg

A young girl in white night clothes, soaking wet. Inky black hair curtains her face.

Local Lore: No one is sure who she was, but they know that she drowned. Now people say they can sometimes hear her crying out by the lake, late at night. Once in a while, they even hear her scream. Whenever small, wet footprints are found around the grounds, it's usually attributed to her ghost.

Components and Weaknesses

Components

Banshee Wail
Her scream can do damage and even kill. Brawn must be rolled to resist, with tough/enduring qualities adding +1. Failure makes the victim fall to their knees in pain and does 1-3 SP loss.
Drown on Dry Land
She can point at one person and cause the victim's lungs to fill with water and drown. Same roll/damage as above, but the victim's lungs fill with water and they drown.

Weaknesses

Manifest Flesh
Ghosts that manifest to harm the living can be harmed in turn. Guns stagger them, for instance, and physical trauma has an impact. It is unkown if this can KILL them, or simply slows them down.

Dolly

Dolly.jpg

A nicely dressed young girl covered in dust, dirt and leaves. One arm is missing at the elbow, bone and sinew exposed.

Local Lore: As with most, her name isn't known, but the few times she's been seen she looks like a perfect little doll all dressed up fancy. Various theories are agreed that he died in the woods, possibly mauled by an animal. People sometimes hear giggling and laughter on the hiking trails that gets attributed to her.

The Gash

Gash.jpg

A curvy young woman, totally nude, her body covered in cuts. Her hair is wet, dripping with blood.

Local Lore: Definitely a suicide - or, now knowing that many of the accidental deaths weren't so accidental, a murder. Many have felt a strange compulsion to slit their own wrists late at night, usually while in the bath. It gets blamed on her, a beautiful young woman with severe depression.

Components and Weaknesses

Components

So You Can't See Me, No Not At All
She can only be seen in reflective surfaces. If the victim is not watching her on a reflective surface, they are unable to dodge her attacks.
Big Fucking Knife
She carries a large kitchen knife. Dodge with Finesse. Failure to dodge does 1-3 SP loss.

Weaknesses

Manifest Flesh
Ghosts that manifest to harm the living can be harmed in turn. Guns stagger them, for instance, and physical trauma has an impact. It is unkown if this can KILL them, or simply slows them down.

The Slugger

Slugger.jpg

A young man in a letterman jacket, half his face and body shredded and torn. He carries a baseball bat.

Local Lore: They say one patient, an older boy in high school, tried to escape only to be run over by a semi on the highway late at night as he fled. An all-American athlete type. Sometimes empty beer cans turn up in strange places, and he gets the credit.

Components and Weaknesses

Components

Batter Up!
Slugger has a bat that he can swing to attack others. If a victim fails a Finesse roll to dodge, they take 1-3 SP loss.

Weaknesses

Manifest Flesh
Ghosts that manifest to harm the living can be harmed in turn. Guns stagger them, for instance, and physical trauma has an impact. It is unkown if this can KILL them, or simply slows them down.

The Princess

Princess.jpg

A young woman in a beautiful dress, her arms bound behind her back. Her neck is broken, head hanging at an odd angle.

Local Lore: Another older girl, another supposed suicide. Rich and pretty but mentally slow, or so they say. She hung herself, but the drop was so high it snapped her neck rather than just strangle her. Sometimes people think they hear her crying in the halls late at night.

Nails

Nails.jpg

A large, hulking mountain of a black man. He has nails and spikes of all sizes driven into him, from head to toe.

Local Lore: One of the two orderlies from the sanitarium killed by the kids in the revolt, said to be a part of the abuse. He was found dead in the maintenance house with nails of all kinds driven through him. Sometime tools fall off of shelves, or a freak accident happens that gets blamed on him.

Components and Weaknesses

Components

Surprise!
Can attack before anyone knows he's there, negating the 'First Fail' of PCs and allowing a one-shot kill. Can be countered by the Danger Sense perk.
Thrown Spikes
He can pull nails and spikes from his body and throw them as weapons. Failure to dodge does 1-3 SP loss.
Feats of Strength
He can jump incredible heights and distances and move or throw heavy objects.

Weaknesses

Manifest Flesh
Ghosts that manifest to harm the living can be harmed in turn. Guns stagger them, for instance, and physical trauma has an impact. It is unkown if this can KILL them, or simply slows them down.
Taste of Their Own Medicine
Attacking a ghost with their own weapon can land a killing blow that destroys them. (Major Weakness)

Buzzsaw

Buzzsaw.jpg

Tall and lithe, this man is entirely nude. A number of circular saw blades have been buried in him at various places, including his head.

Local Lore: Also found dead in the maintenance shed, he was supposedly one of the maintenance crew in on the abuse. He was cut to ribbons by various saws. Like Nails, strange shit there gets blamed on him.

The Tarp

Tarp.jpg

A man heavily wrapped in a plastic tarp, his arms and legs somewhat free, allowing movement. He carries a massive sledge hammer.

Local Lore: Another of the group from maintenance. The kids supposedly wrapped him up in a plastic tarp along with his sledgehammer and rolled him into the pool where he sank and drowned. Wet, adult-sized footprints around that area are said to be his.

The Freak

Freak.jpg

A wild, crazed-looking man in a straight-jacket and old-timey psych-ward cage helmet. His arms are free, his nails wickedly sharp.

Local Lore: There's some debate among locals as to whether Mahoney was the real ringleader of the group of sickos, or an orderly was. He was responsible for taking the kids to and from shock therapy, a job he's said to have enjoyed. The kids got him in a straight jacket, strapped him to the table and hooked the wires not to his head but to the frame of an 'anti-biting' cage some patients thought to be dangerous would be made to wear. It slowly and brutally fried him. Strange electrical occurrences get blamed on him.

Components and Weaknesses

Components

BZZZZZZZZZT!
He can attack everyone in the room with electricity. Brawn roll to resist. Failure to resist does 1-3 SP loss.
Electro Shock
He can attack up to four people at once with electricity from his hands. Brawn roll to resist. Failure to resist does 1-3 SP loss.

Mahoney

Mahoney.jpg

A man wearing a caretaker uniform, his name emblazoned on a patch at his left breast. He's riddled with bullet wounds.

Local Lore: The widely-accepted ringleader of the abusive staff, he was the head groundskeeper and therefore had access to everywhere. When the revolt happened, he grabbed a kid - the ballerina - and ran. Cornered later by the police, he put a shotgun to the back of her head and blew her face off before dying in a rain of bullets. People who often feel like they're being watched say it's him watching.

Perks and Quirks

Perks are things that give you bonuses and help make your character more specialized. You can have up to 50 points of Perks, not counting group freebies.

Perks

10 Point Perks
Good Luck

Re-roll 1 die. Once per Scene. You must select which die you wish to reroll.

Firearm

You have a gun, which can be used to defend yourself from other people and the monsters as well. In most cases it won't STOP the monster, but it may slow them down. Only firearms hurt/slow monsters with any reliability.

Local Lore

As a local, you can roll Brains once per scene to see if you know anything about local lore - the camp grounds, the monsters, etc. Can also add a +1 to this Brains roll as if you have a positive quality for it.

From Beyond the Grave

After your character dies, their friends sometimes see them and talk to them, allowing you further RP as their conscience/intuition/voice in their head.

Adrenaline Boost

Can add an additional +1 die. Once per Scene.

Wealthy

You come from money, and can assume to have any number of luxury items with you. This is NOT like Found Item, so you can't use it to have a flashlight when you need one, but you probably have extra batteries! Other items might include good alcohol, drugs, extra clothing, hair supplies, etc.

Area of Expertise

Your college education or extracurricular activities give you an edge in a specific field. Can add an ADDITIONAL +1 to a Brains or Finesse roll once per scene in that field.

20 Point Perks
Found Item

At a crucial moment in the story, you can find an object or item you desperately need. Can only be used once per story.

Danger Sense

You have a knack for sensing when bad things are about to happen. For 3GP you can cancel out the monster component Surprise! once per scene.

Scream Queen

Once per scene the character can make a blood curdling scream that will stun the monster for the next round.

Steel Yourself

Use before a Freak-Out Check to automatically succeed once per Scene for 3GP.

Versatile

Use a Positive quality in a tagential (other) Stat Check once per Scene.

30 Point Perks
Gruesome Artifact

At some point in the story you will come across an item related to one of the monsters that can be used to defeat or resolve them for good. Limit one per player.

Let's End This

Double SP gain on a Stat Check that has a Matched Set. Once per scene for 3GP.

Obscure Death

When your character dies, this Perk is triggered and a body is never found. You may return to play later, alive and kicking.

Back for More

If put in negatives, roll 1d6. On a 4-6, stay at 1 SP and continue. Once per scene for 3GP (if successful).

Quirks

10 Point Quirks
Always Drunk or High

You're rarely sober, which can cause any number of problems. Can be used once per scene to subtract one die from a roll at the Director's discretion.

Reputation

Deserved or not, you got a bad rep, and it follows you. -1 Spirit on your first social roll once per scene. Others are encouraged to RP your reputation with and around you.

Cheater

You don't do your class work and aren't as smart as people think. Your first Brains roll in any scene is at -1. You are encouraged to RP it beyond this.

Two Left Feet

You're clumsy, and your first athletic-type Finesse roll in any scene is at -1. You are encouraged to RP it beyond this.

Small Favor

You owe someone else in your group a small debt.

Jilted Lover I

You have an ex present at the lodge, and he or she will try to make your life miserable. This level is a Central Casting character played by The Director.

20 Point Quirks
Jilted Lover II

You have an ex present in the story, and he or she will try to make your life miserable. This level is a Supporting Role character played by another player. Can be a Useful NPC.

Wanted

You have warrants out and your face has been in the news over the years. Everyone outside your group will instantly distrust you. You'll get blamed for pretty much anything. The Director will cause you no end of trouble.

Faint Hearted

You have to make Freak-Out checks at any bloody or gruesome sight, not just when freaky things happen. Failure leads to the character passing out cold.

Big Favor

You owe someone else a big debt.

Can't Swim

It's vacation at a lodge on a lake. Everyone can swim. Everyone... except you.

30 Point Quirks
Jilted Lover III

You have an ex present in the story, and he or she will try to make your life miserable. This level is a PC.

Doomed

You're going to die in a horrible way. When the time comes for your character, no rolls are made, no GP can be spent. Your time is up.

Connection to a Monster

You have a connection to one of the monsters, though you don't know it. That monster will take a particular interest in you.

Supporting Roles

Support roles for this story are being limited to two types, and you may only have one of each type.

Sidekicks
Sidekicks are SRs directly tethered to your character - they're your best bud, your boyfriend or girlfriend, and they go where you go. They are assumed to be in any scene your character is in, though you don't have to pose them regularly. With the bodycount being as high as it will be in this story, the sidekick's major purpose is as cannon fodder. Throw them under the bus. Put them in stupid, dangerous situations so you don't have to take the risk. Let them drag you into shit your character would otherwise be too smart for.
Sidekicks get standard SR stats and no Perks or Quirks.
Useful NPCs
The other type of SR is the Useful NPC, and must be in another faction/group from your character. These should NOT be made in advance, but over the first few days of the story, so you get a chance to see what's been made as far as PCs and what is lacking. Think of them as your opportunity to do something completely different AND help fill a role the story might need.
Useful NPCs get standard SR stats, but can have 30P of Perks and Quirks to help make them more useful.

Genre Points

To encourage all the tropey goodness we can, the following is an (incomplete!) list of activities and actions that can earn you Genre Points if reported to staff with a log backing it up:

Getting Drunk/High
Not just having a couple beers or smoking a little weed, but partaking to the point of intoxication. Always Drunk/High characters cannot claim this.
Hooking Up
No, you don't have to RP the actual sex, and if you do PLEASE don't post a log of it. Having the log fade to black, or the characters leave the scene together to go have sex is fine. The Director may choose to run a special scene and have you attacked during it, though!
Going Somewhere Alone
Any time you leave a scene to go somewhere by yourself. The Director may choose to run a special scene and have you attacked during it, though!

This Won't End Well
(1987-06-10 • Maintenance Garage) Flashback to when Lyle and Ethan met and, well, started something that will end badly. So badly.

(Archetype): Lanced with two rebar stakes by Nails, stepping in front of Bastian to shield him.
(Archetype): Electrocuted by Freak in his dying moments.
(Archetype): Addison, usually so on-the-ball even in a crisis situation, is briefly distracted by the arrival of the ghosts actually ‘’helping’’ them. sure, he’s seen some of it with his own eyes, but this is a different story altogether, and might even seem to alarm him.

Should have stayed completely engaged, though, as is his norm, because all it takes is one fraction of inattention for the double fishmen on himself and Sonya to gain the upper hand, just enough time before he can shoot them first. He shoots anyway, but one of them knocks the gun out of his hand. They’re pissed at him. He’s killed several of their brethren. Perhaps that’s why the pair of them, tearing into him with their claws and teeth, begin to drag him back towards the lake. Finally, Addison’s unflappable coolness breaks. He snarls and kicks and struggles to get out of their grasp, eyes wide and wild, but with the wounds they’re inflicting, he doesn’t get far. The last thing anyone hears of him, before he’s dragged down into the water and almost certainly his death, are his horrified, high-pitched screams.

(Archetype): Killed by Nails as he was avenging Max.
(Archetype): No. Not after all of this. No. This isn't happening. Danica's eyes flare wide as the thing slithers up from behind what she thought might serve as their cover to overwhelm Oz as he takes that last, fateful shot.

"No." She says it out loud. No, Oz, for the first time, she's telling him no. She is not going to run. "No," she insists. "No." This time, she's screaming it, and flinging herself bodily at the thing that's tearing holes in Oz, absurd renaissance faire sword-first, battle bimbo bikini and all.

That singular focus on burying the blade in the beast does the trick. She does. It sinks into slimy skin, but in the very same motion, sends the creature's clawed hand clear through her chest and out her back, in part driven by her own momentum and determination.

She coughs, blood spluttering from her lips as looks down to Oz, ache in her eyes, before she glares at the creature. "The Lady of the Lake says 'fuck you'."

And then, she crumples, silent.

(Archetype): Oz is too focused on the task at hand, playing big damn hero it seems. He's sighting down the rifle again and letting off another blast of buckshot with at least nominally satisfying results. Well, that is right up until a fishperson leap sout of the side brush and wet clammy hands start pawing at him like a prom date. "Fuck!" is all he manages to yelp as he struggles and tries to use the stock of his gun to thwart them. He yells at Danica and the rest, "Run!" But to no avail. There are crunchy wet sounds shortly after that signal the demise of the nerdling.
(Archetype): Confronted by Mahoney as she and several others were trying to escape the underground altar room, Misty tried to prevent him from flinging his bear trap at her friends by grabbing hold of its chain. Unfortunately, he was far stronger than she could've anticipated, and with a supernaturally vicious yank, he sent her flying straight into a wall.
(Archetype): The Freak flails as Lyle just watches with years of pent up rage keeping that expression still. And then the kickback; lightening arcs high. Muscles start to seize, and the rubber soles of his boots blister and pop; partly starting to melt. The truth of it is running a current through Lyle Lucas isn't that much more difficult than microwaving a chicken nugget. He sees Ethan start to fold and it's almost slow motion. One hand turns up the volume flipping Freak off again, now face to face. His other hand squeezes around Ethan's as he can feel the muscles in his skin cook.

Lyle would love to tell Ethan a hundred things he always knew. Really he'd just like to live and get off this damn island with him, but that? That ain't the reality. It's a damn shame he'll never know Ethan lives, but he can die hoping. And with that he lets himself fall on him in that last effort of trying to insulate his best everything, because fuck these assholes. They don't get to fuck with his boy. Hitting the ground that remaining eye just stares, until the expression fades from it replaced with the dullness of the one he lost.

(Archetype): He was shot four times by his fiance, Vivian, who trailed him to the lodge.
 (Archetype): Skull crushed by Mahoney.
: Crushed skull
(Archetype): Stepped in front of Mahoney's bear trap to take the hit for Sonya.

Danny swallows hard when he hears Mahoney's greeting of 'Fuck!' His blood runs cold at the appearance of the ghost. Sonya is chanting, and Danny can hear the scrape of metal on metal as Mahoney hauls back with that chain. He has only one thought: Sonya. He steps between her and Mahoney as the trap lashes out, and he pivots to face the ghost.

The trap slams into his body instead of hers, and despite the shock and fear and pain, it's all right. For at least a little longer, Sonya gets to live.

He has no pithy remark for Mahoney, no parting shot or cool last words. He arches as the teeth of trap rip through him, and when he coughs, there's blood frothed on his lips. He rasps for breath, but he's in tatters, bleeding out and fading fast. With a small shudder, he goes limp. He's gone.

: Tommy fell onto the broken stem of a golf club and was killed instantly when Mrs. Dini blew up the ground.
: Very, very thoroughly electrocuted by the Freak's final, dying attack.
: Paige is being torn into but she is silent, save for the wet gurgles from her ripped throat. She is still alive, eyes wide, as Derek falls beside her.
(Archetype): Drake Ashton's body is found in his room, having died from a systemic infection caused by the Ballerina's bite. It doesn't seem to be contagious, just a bacterial infection.
: Nailed through the head by Nails outside the shed.
(Archetype): Derek Bloom was a lot of things. A lot of things no one really knew. But, for all his vanity, jealousy, coke rages, and complete forgetfulness, at the end of the day, Derek could be counted on for one thing. Derek Bloom-no, North, had your back. No matter what. He didn't have to say it for you to know. He was just there. Always. And when Oz, his romantic rival and his recently reunited sister begin to be overtaken, he doesn't hesitate. He runs in, axe up and ready to fight, no matter what it took.

But Derek is no match for the fish people. Too many. Paige is being torn into but she is silent, save for the wet gurgles from her ripped throat. She is still alive, eyes wide, as Derek falls beside her. They claw and rip into his back and he /can/ scream and he does. Something loud and primal that'll bounce off the trees. The kind of scream that'll be heard for years to come, when you come here, at just the right time.

Eyes open and glassy, he and his sister stare at one another, one bloody hand reaching for the others...until a fishperson snaps Derek's hand off at the wrist, ripping it away.

And then, there is nothing more from the siblings North of Kansas, USA.

(Archetype): Theo hits Mahoney, and Kimberly kicks him, but neither do anything noteworthy to him.

The chain catches Theo's legs, tangling up his feet and tugging them out from under him. It sends him falling back to the ground, back of his head hitting concrete with an audible *crack!* It almost knocks him unconscious, the room spinning.

That leaves the bear trap, which hits Kimberly full in the stomach and snaps. It then falls to the ground with a clank, along with most of the cheerleader's entrails, splattering wetly at Mahoney's feet.

It's gutted her.

Kimberly has a rather startled look on her face. The coke confuses things clearly. "That...all you got? Kinda tickles..." She says before starting to blow a bubble even with a cocky smirk. Then she crumples in a bloody heap.

: There's a loud, wet slap of bare flesh as Big Boy crashes into Jess at full speed, cutting off her scream, then a louder, wetter *CRUNCH* when he drives her into the wall. She shrieks a wet, gurgled scream, then crumbles to the floor a broken mess when the giant steps back.
: The ground rumbles, heaves, and then starts to disintegrate and collapse under them. "'Rado!" The look of realization and recognition come to Candice's face immediately as the tree she and Colorado are hiding behind starts to press forward leaning down on her. Muddy once-white Reeboks scramble for purchase and find none. It's a moment, only the fraction of one moment that her expression looks up at him afraid, and with tears that might speak apology. There's no time to say anything so she does all she can: push Colorado away from herself as hard as she can and pray to God he clears the tree.

In the end there is fire and dust. In a way it might be true of all things, even good things. She's not found at first from the size of the maple until there's a hand connecting to an arm, and the body of Candice Flick crushed as if by some giant rolling pin. Her blue eyes dull, staring wide in the same expression with the dust muddying up her face where her tears dry.

(Archetype): There are MORE fishpeople coming! "Alright, Lulu, this is what you are here to do. Protect Sonya, make sure the ritual succeeds," she thinks, trying to ignore the frightened tears that begin to dance in her eyes. She knows she's not made for this. She has tried to be smart this whole time, letting others more capable 'do the things'. Sitting out on the bench, that's the spot she is used to. But she can't. Not this time. Her hands shaking, her breaths coming in shorter gasps from fear if not from asthma, she lifts that can of hairspray and the lighter when the fishperson gets close. Glancing towards Sonya, she says, "give the rebel yell, Sonya. You do this."

Stepping to the side she yells at the fish. "Time for a fish fry, fucker!" Clicking the lighter... nothing happens. Her thumbe tries again, and again. Nothing. Nothing but a spark. If only she had a zippo and not some cheap ass Bic. "No..." She shakes her head, the fish gaining on her. She tries to dash further to the side, her thumb starting to feel raw from turning those damn wheels, "No..no..no..." She is starting to sob, finding it hard to catch a breath now when she is slammed into by the fish, those dagger sharp teeth and claws filleting her easily. Blood splattering like the red paint she is stained with, she manages one last deep breath, enough to scream like a banshee until her throat is slashes open by those claws. Eyes wide with fear, she falls limp and unmoving.

 (Archetype): Electrocuted by the Freak.
: Doomed!
(Archetype): Was caught by the pelvis in Mahoney's bear trap while dragging an unconscious Julian to safety at the end of the mission into the bunkers. Subsequently bled to death.

Cassandra lets out a feeble whine as she is reeled in like baited fish. All she can do is hang there as Mahoney examines his kill, staring daggers at the man-turned-monster through the haze of pain. Somewhere along the way she dropped her pistol. She can't even shoot him for good measure.

When he drops her and presses a boot onto her back, she figures that is it--that he'll crush her chest, make her drown in punctured ribs and a mangled heart. She never expected what he'd do next. Cassandra lets out a horrified scream as he effectively severs her body in half, trailing tender muscle, shards of bone, and long sinew from the jaws of his trap.

She doesn't move when he yells, doesn't move when he disappears. He must have sensed the ritual, she thinks. She hopes that this was enough.

"...Fuck you," she gasps to the empty, blazing room.
