Living isn't so bad, is it?
Once again she is awake. And once again, at first, she remembers nothing. Lying in the soft bed with her simple black nightclothes on. That awakening, the sit up as she has a sense of not being where she was before. Or was she?
It's more familiar than it's ever been, but again, the Penitent doesn't quite remember. Names flicker about her mind. That normal ritual follows as the lights come on. The glance around the room, the presence of those expensive sunglasses there on the nightstand.
A shower. Such things enlighten the mind, give her time to sift through the confusion. This is familiar enough that she somehow just knows answers will come soon enough. Or at least something of an explanation.
By the time she's getting dressed, the events of the Eager Beaver have come back to her. Really? Emily Reed. What a downgrade that particular life was. And she just had to go and live again, didn't she? Shaking her head, she sits for a moment in thought.
At least, she doesn't expect this one to stick with her like Nettie did.
