#1: First Things First

Before starting out, take a look at the introduction to the game and game policies. Make sure you're comfortable with and accept the concept of the game and the rules of the road before requesting a character or creating a login.

#2: Select an Available Archetype

The following archetypes can be customized to your liking as far as PB, gender, etc., and will be given new roles in the next story. Don't feel constrained by their current wiki.

If no characters are currently listed as available above, check the full archetype listing. Archetypes listed as not currently in play may be made available at The Director's discretion. In this case, please log into the game as a guest and talk to the Director about your concept to get permission. Those marked 'retired' will not reappear in circulation; please don't request them.

Once you've found one you like, or have been given permission to take one from those not currently in play, make a wiki account and a login on the game, and let staff know the name of your wiki ID. Do not use the archetype name as your login name on the game, or for your wiki login. Staff will mark the archetype as 'in play', set up your initial page, and give you Write privileges on the wiki to personalize your page.

#3: Fill Out Basic Information

Our wiki has a number of forms to ideally make life easier on you when you make a character. When you're starting out, you need to fill out the following:

Overview
An overview of how you interpret the archetype's core personality. How do they express the qualities their archetype possesses most often? What thoughts do you have about how they will interact with others? What are their ideals? Take a look at the characters currently in play, and you'll see many useful examples to draw from.
Played By
Your played-by generally remains consistent from story to story. It's a good idea to select someone who has a variety of looks available.

Fill out other details as appropriate, and as you are able. Most information is optional. The Director will provide you with the details of your door image by +request.

#4: Getting Started

Depending on when you come to the game, your options for getting involved may vary to some degree.

If you come between active stories, when most characters are active in the Facility, you can choose to wait until the next story begins in a role created for that upcoming story, or you can start play in the Facility with no memory of your former life (or any former lives in stories).

In most other cases, you will join the story in progress, and arrive at the Facility later, with other characters.

If the current story is nearing completion, character creation may be temporarily closed, and you may be asked to start in the Facility, or wait for the start of the next story to begin.
