Highly Suspect - Lydia

Black ocean, cold and dark

I am the hungry shark, fast and merciless

But the only girl that could talk to him, she couldn't swim

Tell me what's worse than this

What's worse is all the coke

The ice that numbs my throat if only for the night

My muscles will contract, your bones will crack

It's just a fact 'cause I am here to win this fight

I can't fucking breathe,

much less believe the truth

I pick up a mag, aim for this head, and shoot

Better days, so unafraid in my youth

I can't breathe or believe the truth

Your eyes are lined in pain

Black tears don't hide in rain

And I tied you to the tracks

When I turned around, I heard that sound

I hit the ground, I know there's no turning back

He is the one who is willing to make the hard call, to get blood on his hands, to do what is necessary when no one else is willing to do so. Detached, for one reason or another, The Beast can be cold, ruthless, and without mercy. Sometimes charismatic, sometimes distant, sometimes with claws out, and sometimes silent, but always a predator.

Archetype Roster Concept

Someone has to do the things that need to be done, and that's you. Some think you're cruel, or savage, or a sociopath. You know what you really are: Necessary.

In the Facility

Facility Persona

Late 20s.

British accent.

Calm and reserved.

Has chosen to keep the name "Connor" that was his from the Island and use it in the Facility as his own.

Things That Linger

He always has something, or someone, to which he he is loyal in each story.

The Beast's Door

A man crouched down, strong and dangerous, expression grim. The bodies of his enemies are scattered around him.

The Beast's Room

The Beast's room is comfortable, but resembles a hotel suite more than a personal space. The colors are various shades of grey. There is little in the way of decoration, but the closet is filled with utilitarian clothing. And then there are cabinets that are filled with weapons, though those weapon are all props, as though they had come off of a movie set -- none of them actually useful. There is a necklace that hangs from a hook on the wall, a coffee mug from Danny's Diner on the Noc, which some may recognize. Everything in the room is neatly kept and stowed away. There are also shelves of books on any number of subjects, mostly fiction and historical fiction. Situated on one of the shelves is a photograph of some frat boys on a bus on what appears to be a road trip.

Memento Mori

Isle of Dread

Rosa's Necklace - A necklace that Andrew wore during their entire time on the island, and cast into the trees at their departure. It was Rosa's, who died on the island.

Alien Mutation

Coffee Mug - It's a coffee mug from the diner on board the Noc, plain white ceramic with the logo of Danny's Diner on it.

Prosperity's Price

The Colton Gun - The very fancy gun that Caleb gave him to fight the Delgado gang with. It didn't have any supernatural powers but it sure was pretty and did a good job of puttin' holes in people.

Frat Photo - Someone snapped a photograph while on the bus on the way to the Eager Beaver Lodge. In it, Marc is seated on one side of the bus, Matt on the other, and Julian in the seat in front of Marc. The three are talking and laughing about something. Gus can be seen in the background, animatedly telling a story to another of the frat boys.

No memento mori from this story yet.

Project Icarus

Emory's Uniform - The uniform of Emory North is neatly hanging in The Beast's closet among many other uniforms and outfits after the conclusion of Project Icarus. It looks just as it did the first day that he remembers putting it on, proudly declaring him as Chief of Security.

Bonds of Blood

Apartment Keys - The keys to Morrison and Theodore's apartment in Las Vegas.

The Last Road

No memento mori from this story yet.

Beast Thunderbird.jpg

Thunderbird (Carnival)

Faces (The Thunderbird)

The Beast appears as Keme, The Thunderbird during the Carnival story. This is the only time thus far that his appearance has changed. (PB: Jay Tavare)

Beast Carnival.jpg

Loner Facility 1.png

The Loner

First encountered as Andrew on The Island, The Beast has a connection with Loner that seems to carry over, even if only in part, no matter what story they go through. In the Facility, he's developed feelings for him, even loves him. They've pledged whenever they return to the facility, to go to "the cottage", a place they knew as Connor and Andrew, and spend time together there.

The Rogue

Has become something like a brother to Beast. They seem to end up allies in various stories, and have some similar opinions on the Facility. There's so little that they know about where they are, and even what they might be.

Deviant New.jpg

The Deviant

First encountered him as Shea at the Carnival, one of the few that Keme really spoke to. When they arrived in the facility, he tried to help Shea become acclimated.

The Medic

They were first brothers in Prosperity, and then something more in Slasher. They haven't encountered one another much in the Facility between roles, however.

Laredo (Prosperity's Price)

Trusty Steed
Evan raised Laredo from a colt, training the horse over the past five years to accompany him on his long treks through the countryside tracking down wanted criminals. Sure-footed and of a steady, calm disposition, Laredo is a dark brown quarter horse with a black mane and tail.

Dax Drummond.jpg

Dax Drummond (Isle of Dread)

Dax has been a Roadie for a while now and has seen some shit. Little surprises him. He's a quiet guy, but quick to rile up. And when he gets riled up -- he will be the first to jump in after Connor if there's a fight brewing. He knows the road, and how to survive with very little since he's constantly moving about -- never settling anywhere.

Lilliane Evrard.jpg

Lilliane Evrard (Isle of Dread)

Magazine Photographer
Lilliane Evrard is a photographer for Sonix, a well-known music magazine. She's one of the few photographers that keeps coming back no matter how many times Connor has turned her away. Eventually, the two actually got to talking. She's never gotten that exclusive photo op with Andrew, but at this point she mostly sticks around to talk to Connor.

Beast lucy westin.jpg

Lucy Westin (Slasher)

College Student
Lucy is Marc's twin sister. She's a major in Fine Arts - Photography and came along because she is besties with Hyacinth Mackie, Marc's ex. What better way to torment her twin than to spend the entire trip with Hyacinth encouraging them to get back together. Oh, not to mention there's a whole lot of hot frat boys to flirt with.

Rachel Linwood.jpg

Rachel Linwood (Slasher)

Rachel has been a cook at the Eager Beaver lodge for the past couple of years. She doesn't believe in any kind of ghost stories or spooky shit, and she's had about enough of those who feel compelled to nick her ingredients from the kitchen (Looking at you, Lucas). She's good at her job and brooks no nonsense from anyone.

Beast lee mueller.jpg

Lee Mueller (Carnival)

Lee helps with the set up and tear down of the Carnival, and some general repairs when things need fixing.

Beast dan bishop.jpg

Dan Bishop (Carnival)

Peanut Vendor
Dan helps out selling roasted peanuts from a cart at the carnival.

Beast jeanette truveau.jpg

Jeanette Truveau (Carnival)

She sews costumes and mends clothes, tents, and banners as needed.

Beast JaceMonroe.jpg

Jace Monroe (Project Icarus)

Lab Tech
Jace is one of the Penumbra lab techs sent along to analyze whatever it is that they happen to find. His specialty is chemistry and this is his first mission for Penumbra, so he's hoping to make a good impression. The truth is, he's extremely inexperienced, and while a solid scientist, is terrified of being that close to a black hole.

Beast Michael.jpg

Michael Stanhope (Bonds of Blood)

French Teacher
Michael Stanhope is a French teacher at the High School and has been for the last fifteen years. He's known for riding a motorcycle to class, giving no fucks, swearing in French, and throwing plastic fruit at students.

Beast Sean.jpg

Sean Winters (Bonds of Blood)

High School Student
Sean's a senior at the high school, involved in drama, charming, charismatic, but not the strongest academically.

Beast Kit.jpg

Kit (The Last Road)

Kit has always been a Scavenger. His father had been a Scavenger. He knew nothing of his mother. She'd left his father when he was too young to remember, and his father never spoke of her. He grew up in Sanctuary, and used his quickness to sneak in and out of places and obtain the things that people needed. He liked the challenge of sourcing specific things rather than just going out and taking whatever he could find. That lead him to get into his share of trouble, but then, trouble was what kept life interesting.

Beast Rook.jpg

Cavalier (The Last Road)

Fortunate Artisan
Cavalier and Phoenix share a mother, though they have different fathers. Where Phoenix was sent to the kitchens, Cavalier joined those who made and mended clothing. As he grew older, he took on the role of an Artisan and uses whatever cloth and fibers he can get ahold of to create clothing. He can weave cloth, himself, and often designs his own patterns for making everything from trousers and shirts to finery worn by the Fortunate. He has a stall in the Fortunate Bazaar where he sells his goods to those who have the Lux to afford it. He often employs Scavengers to bring him back interesting buttons, baubles, and decorative items that he can add to his creations.

Beast island.jpg

Connor Smith (Isle of Dread)

A rough childhood on the streets of London left you with few friends and a decent knack for fighting. No one looked at you or paid you any attention, unless it was negative, until Andrew came along. It wasn't anything big, either, just a few bucks for food when you were hungry and at rock bottom. But he cared when no one else did, and you'll never forget that.

Now you're his bodyman - a cross between an assistant and a bodyguard. You look out for him, keep him safe, make sure he gets left alone when he wants it (which is almost always). He's not what you expected a rock star to be like, and you suspect it's not what he'd thought it would be like, either. He's miserable. He keeps working, though, and you keep following him, doing what he needs done.

The Beast 1.jpg

Aaron Hartmann (Alien Mutation)

You come from a family of miners, it's in your blood. They even owned a company several generations back, but got squeezed out by the megacorps and sold it. They've been working for the megacorps ever since. Not you - you won't be a company slave. You're a senior partner on the Hephaestus, and you work for yourself and the rest of the crew. The ship has had some tough times lately, and not too many years ago you all had to chip in to upgrade your stasis tech when you all almost died in hypersleep. But that's all part of being your own man, your own boss. This ship is everything to you, and you hear the grumbling from some about cashing out soon. Fine. You'll buy their shares. Nothing is taking this away from you.

Evan DeWitt (Prosperity's Price)

Evan is one of the ones who was born in Prosperity, and will likely die in Prosperity. He's never expressed any interest in going anywhere at all. A lone wolf in a family of law men, Evan took up hunting bounties as soon as he was old enough to ride out. And he has a collection of WANTED posters that he has personally brought in -- some of them even "or alive". This didn't particularly please his father, who would rather that he had taken up as a deputy, or even a lawyer. It wasn't as though he lacked the mind for it, just the temperament. He was always more comfortable tracking, hunting, and taking down prey than he was standing around and talking about politics and making rules. So long as those who done wrong met with justice, that was what mattered. The exact nature of that justice was, on occasion, hazy. Family life wasn't ever a thing that interested Evan, either. Some say he got his heart broke early on and it never healed. Some say he doesn't have one at all. The truth might be somewhere in the middle.

Beast Young.jpg

Marc Westin (Slasher)

Keep your head down. Lead with your shoulder. Follow through. Those are the words Marc has lived by, on the ice and off. On the ice, he's a force of nature and has been since he was young. He can pass and shoot okay, but he doesn't score a lot of points. He's not meant to. In hockey, he's what's known as an enforcer. He hits hard and makes opponents shy away from whatever area he's in, helping control the flow of the game.

Of the ice, it's not much different. That quiet rage never really goes away, and he's not sure why. Or maybe he is, and doesn't want to think about it. He does the things he's supposed to, is a good brother in the fraternity, and mostly stays out of trouble. No point thinking about things that can't be fixed.

Keep your head down. Lead with your shoulder. Follow through.

Beast Thunderbird.jpg

Thunderbird (Carnival)

Coming to America

The Thunderbird was here before man called this land America, and he brought the storms, and the rains, and flew with others like him around a great mountain in the sky. He reveled in heroic deeds of great hunters, and the thrill of fighting and the hunt. But his people have been forced almost to extinction, and the way to the mountain in the sky has long been shut, his brothers and sisters have long since ceased answering his call -- whether because they cannot, or will not, or because they have already fallen, he can't be sure.

Life at the Carnival

He is the Thunderbird, one of the fantastic creature acts in the show, an enormous bird that would be impressive by size alone if it weren't for the electricity that crackles around him, flickering in his eyes, and the thunderous clap of his wings. He always draws a crowd from a fascinated audience, who delight at watching the lightning and hearing the thunder, feeling the static electricity in the air and daring to get close to the dangerous beast. He performs in the big top where he has room to fly.

When he is not performing, he will sometimes wander the midway and just keep his eyes on things -- not an official part of security, but there to help if needed.

Beast North.jpg

Emory North (Project Icarus)

Emory North began his career in the military as an investigator, and then later moved into private security before eventually being hired by Penumbra. He worked his way up through the ranks to Security Chief by being smart, dedicated, and good at what he does. He is of the opinion that the most important thing is making sure that everyone gets out alive. Survival may come at the cost of assets or information. This is why Penumbra recruited him rather than WY. And while he's received a reprimand or two in the past, no one questions his dedication to the safety of the crew and passengers on any vessel that he is on. Unfortunately, he suffered a spinal injury during one of his previous missions, which keeps him from doing any particularly strenuous lifting. That has not, however, slowed down his mind or his reflexes with with a pistol.

Beast Lester1.jpg

Morrison Lester (Bonds of Blood)

Morrison Lester is Karl's son by his first wife, Claire. He works in the factory by day and is a boxer by night, an aspiring fighter. He's been fighting since he was a kid. Quick to anger, and having serious authority issues -- Morrison doesn't like being told what to do. He's got a bit of a chip on his shoulder given his family's reputation and the tendency of others to look down on them like they're better because they happen to be born in better circumstances. Bar fights are a thing. He can be predatory, violent, and unpredictable, like a wild animal. He's pretty good with animals, though, particularly those of the canine variety.
